InsureIT live with LANSA Integrator to offer Java XML Services to insurance companies and brokers

Dublin, Ireland – November 5, 2001 – InsureIT, an interactive Internet Transaction Processing Framework for Insurance Companies from LANSA Solution Partner MDC, has been extended with LANSA Integrator to offer XML Java services to and from heterogeneous insurer and broker systems.

Mike Dunnion, CEO of MDC, says, "We recently replaced InsureIT's remote system integration programs, which we hand crafted in Java, by LANSA Integrator and gained a ten fold increase in performance."

One of the first users of InsureIT is insure.ie, a B2C site selling Motor Insurance and soon Household and Travel insurance. Companies quoting online and in real-time on the www.insure.ie site are Allianz, AXA, Eagle Star, Hibernian and Royal & SunAlliance. The quotations from these companies are retrieved from heterogeneous systems using LANSA Integrator sending XML parameterized data requests and receiving XML data back. The retrieved data is then displayed on the Web page in real-time for selection by the client.

Other InsureIT users are First Call Direct, a member of the Allianz group in Ireland, AllianzWorldwideCare, offering health insurance worldwide, and First-Rate-Direct.co.uk as well as several B2B Extranet clients offering commercial and personal lines business.

"LANSA Integrator acts like a kind of hub that can route and interpret transactions in XML, FTP, HTTPS and several other formats," says Patrick Cluyts, responsible for Business Development at LANSA. "This information is then parsed into the format required by the LANSA, RPG or other 3GL solution for further processing. This means that even 10-year old legacy solutions can now accept and send XML transactions with LANSA Integrator."

"We don’t have to know what operating systems or databases the insurance companies are using, because LANSA Integrator takes care of the routing and interpretation of the data," says Mike. 

"Development was very quick because of LANSA's ease of integration and maintenance and its Visual XML Wizard. Being able to map directly to DB2 fields from XML is just magic. It is something we used to spend weeks doing in Java, now it is only days with LANSA Integrator," concludes Mike.
